Sculptors

This is the Web site of the amazing David Lubotsky from Arroyo Hondo. David Lubotsky sculpts timeless metaphors in stone and bronze that define the essence of structure and movement in form. "The ever present moment in motion." The subject matter is that of moving water, the curl of smoke, the curvature of bone, the growth of a tree, or the vortex of a solar system. Bio-morphic forms conceived of universal subject matter. True modern art! "Great artists need great clients." I.M. Pei "Stones are the bones of the garden, flowers it's flesh." Isamu Noguchi "All art should have some more mystery and meaning to it than is apparent to a quick observer. In my sculpture, explanations often come afterwards." Henry Moore "Content is a glimpse of something, an encounter like a flash." Willem De Kooning. Click Lubotsky Art.

Marble Dolphins, travertine buffalos, onyx eagles . . . Grace makes first and lasting impression; impact is compounded by an almost eerie animation and uncanny lightness of being. Sculptor Doug Scott makes stone sing and dance.

In 1996, Mandy Stapleford left the east coast and headed to California and worked in the movie business. After spending a year in Los Angeles, she headed back east, en route to the Berkshires, Massachusetts. Along the way, she stopped off in Taos, New Mexico to help my friends' Abby Salsbury and Dean Pulver build a house. That was back in January of 1998 and she's still in Taos...and loves it. Since then, she's bought land, built a straw-bale house and finally built my dream studio. Mandy Stapleford's work commingles human and animal characteristics. She is very influenced by the Spanish artist, Antonio Gaudi and by gothic architecture. Many of my pieces are human character studies, manifested in imp-like creatures. In her more abstract work, she is influenced by nature and the organic form in general.

I worked for them when I lived in NM. The etchings are from small copper plates, and the images are wonderful southwestern moments. The landscape and architecture that is captured, truly a gift from the past.

Great Site! This site has been around for a while. It moved July '08 from a small to a large ISP. The site will undergo a face lift as well as an upgrade to a new engine to 'run' the back end of it.
