Jonathan Sobols paintings focus on relationships. In his own words, "Nothing stands alone in this universe, all actions touch something else, and there is nothing inconsequential or petty about life." With this philosophy one finds an integrity and holistic drama played out in his work. Figures and forms composed of sculpted areas of color interact and overlay each other, effecting each other and transmuting their interactions into yet another relationship. The beguilingly simple forms and compositions become richer and more meaningful as the eye moves fluidly through the canvas. Ones physical tensions become lessened by the calmness emanating from the surfaces. The paintings seem to live in parallel universes simultaniously, the forms at first seem normal and familiar, but shift with time into a dimension which although familiar is undeniably different from our routine sense of reality. Julia McKee travels the US and abroad in search of meaningful subjects for her plein-air paintings. It is the land's endless beauty that inspires her vivid palette. "When painting a landscape outdoors my goal is to capture the essence of the scene," says McKee. "Each location has a special 'language', an aura all its own. It is my hope to translate this 'language' so the viewer will experience that special aura when viewing my paintings."

KC Benson of Taos, New Mexico is an artist whose work is exquisitely portrayed

KC paints alla prima - without drawing - and entirely with transparent watercolor. His paintings express and suggest the serenity and uniqueness of the moment in nature.
