Dr. Babits, formerly of Thal Equine, LLC in Taos, New Mexico took over the Thal Equine Taos practice in September 2006, after working as an associate vet for Thal Equine since July 2005. She now operates her new solo practice, Medicine Wheel Equine Center, in Taos. Dr. Babits is also working on establishing a reputable training center that offers specialzied individualized training/retraining, clinics; seminars for horses with behavioral problems and other training issues, observation and evaluation of subtle performance problems and resistances encountered under saddle; reserach, exploration and cultivation of the Horse-Human Herd bond through special horsemanship programs. The Center will be using Dr. Babits' own personal system of training and understanding the mind of the horse.

Rio Grande Stables is in operation from May 15th to Oct. 15th each year. Ride gentle horses with friendly, knowledgeable guides in the Land of Enchantment. In May, they travel from their home base in Lajitas, Texas, to enjoy the cool mountains of Taos, New Mexico. Rio Grande Stables location is on the slopes of the Taos Ski Valley where the Sangre de Cristo Mountains rise 13,000 ft. above us. Enjoy beautiful vistas from trails that wind among the pines and high country meadows. Wet your appetite with a one hour ride or, better yet enjoy a two hour trip along Bull of the Woods Creek. Rio Grande Stables three and four hour trails actually go above tree line to alpine meadows dotted with wildflowers. For the more adventurous, Rio Grande Stables offers full day and overnight excursions. Ride to Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico, and try your luck with cutthroat trout from a timberline lake, or spend the day looking for elk and bighorn sheep.
