Her styles are contemporary. Her influences are from indigenous cultures around the world: Indonesia, Mexico, Guatemala, Thailand and Bolivia. Elizabeth's new work includes a unique surface design process that adds pattern and design complexity to the woven fabric. Each knit shawl, knit scarf, and hood and neck cowl is personally designed and created by hand by Nancy Diamond right here in Taos, New Mexico. Nancy Diamond Designs tries to incorporate at least a bit of northern New Mexico wool, which is raised here, handspun, and often, either hand painted or hand-dyed.Nancy Diamond Designs has gathered all kinds of fibers, loving the different textures and the “scenes” they create in the final eclectic product. The fibers today are not your mothers’! Chunky, colorful, sometimes fringed, unique, of varying thickness, fun and funky, metallic…even spun dog hair!!! Each piece is unique and unlike any other, individually expressed, varying in texture, fiber and color, what Nancy likes to call “artwear”. If you see an item that you’d like in specific colors, just ask Nancy Diamond Designs, and I’ll knit it up! A shawl to wear over your formal? Your favorite football team’s colors? Nancy Diamond Designs can also make smaller scarves for children.

Each knit scarf, knit shawl and hood and neck cowl can contain as many as a dozen different fibers, knit-in a row at a time, what I like to call my signature “collage” technique, and then tied off at the end, so that they are safe from unraveling. “Rustic elegance” is how they have been described! Please hand wash all pieces in cold water, and put on a flat surface to dry. FYI... they are knit in a smoke-free environment.

I worked for them when I lived in NM. The etchings are from small copper plates, and the images are wonderful southwestern moments. The landscape and architecture that is captured, truly a gift from the past.

Great Site! This site has been around for a while. It moved July '08 from a small to a large ISP. The site will undergo a face lift as well as an upgrade to a new engine to 'run' the back end of it.

Thanks for including my site, although we are technically south of Taos by 50+ miles in Sapello NM
