Richard and Tupper Hawley's Cross Gallery features Raku and Copper Mosaic Art. Raku is a clay firing process, Japanese in origin. The word means "simple pleasure, joy and beauty." Raku is unlike other ceramic processes because of its unpredictability. Instead of being heated and then cooled very slowly, Raku works are plunged quite suddenly into a hot kiln, removed when they reach a glowing red heat, and then buried abruptly in a pit of soil and other organic materials. The materials are burned into the vessel’s hot surface to create spontaneous design and texture. Visit Cross Gallery's site for more info.

This is the Web site of the amazing David Lubotsky from Arroyo Hondo. David Lubotsky sculpts timeless metaphors in stone and bronze that define the essence of structure and movement in form. "The ever present moment in motion." The subject matter is that of moving water, the curl of smoke, the curvature of bone, the growth of a tree, or the vortex of a solar system. Bio-morphic forms conceived of universal subject matter. True modern art! "Great artists need great clients." I.M. Pei "Stones are the bones of the garden, flowers it's flesh." Isamu Noguchi "All art should have some more mystery and meaning to it than is apparent to a quick observer. In my sculpture, explanations often come afterwards." Henry Moore "Content is a glimpse of something, an encounter like a flash." Willem De Kooning. Click Lubotsky Art.

Dirk tries to convey a sense of time standing still, offering a refuge from reality. Through the use of stylized forms and vibrant colors, Dirk Herrman hopes to suggest a perfect, though surreal, world. Dirk Herrman's paintings are often inspired by actual places, started plein air and then completed in the studio. But whether these places actually exist is not important. Dirk Herrman's goal is to create an ageless place of beauty and mystery, where the worries of the real world cannot intrude. Lucy Herrman's choice of subject matter, landscape, is influenced by a sense of place, where color and light create an emotional setting. Lucy Herrman is drawn to light filtering through trees, a sense of crisp, cool air, and roads or paths that suggest movement and depth. While always part of the present, these scenes also harken back to a time past. Lucy Herrman feel that the physical landscape in the paintings is parallel to the emotional landscape within our hearts. Doug West Art
