Whitehawk experiences painting as a ritual which encompasses the spiritual aspects of life. Whitehawk does not restrict the word or concept of "spiritual" to a definition, but rather, creates paintings to describe that spiritual presence. Whitehawk's paintings include light portals and soul portraits and paintings of spiritual experiences that people have had. The knowledge and information comes through me onto the canvas and represents the visible and invisible, the physical and the spiritual. That knowledge combined with her conscious thought, produces paintings that are healing tools for transformation. The soul portraits reveal the person as the light being that they already are and show valuable information to them. The light portals are energy vortexes. The spiritual experiences show the energy and the essence of what took place. As a visionary artist Whitehawk produces paintings that are healing, transformational and soul revealing. These paintings show a positive, uplifting vision of our spiritual connection and bring eternal ideas into the physical world.

A 1981 Southwest Art article describes the scene at William Acheff's first one-man show, held at Shriver Gallery in Taos in 1978. "People were lining up at the door an hour in advance, and once they got inside they learned that purchasers would be decided by a drawing. Two and a half years later," the article continues, "galleries are still telling their clients that if they want an Acheff, they have to resign themselves to waiting." In the 20 years since that article, the popularity of Acheff's highly realistic still lifes has remained steady. "I paint Indian objects because I relate to them," Acheff said in 1981. "There's a purity in them. I like earthy things, textures from nature."
