Morning Star Alpacas began in 1995 at the AOBA annual meeting in Estes Park. Karen S. Young had begun looking into the possibility of raising these gentle newcomers in the fiber industry. With business plan in hand, she went looking for more information on body conformation, fiber characteristics, health issues, breeding - and, of course, an occasional hands-on experience. While she was taking a break from workshops she bought two raffle tickets. By the end of the conference she was the extremely surprised owner of the two males being raffled that year!
